Five Great Reasons to Get Involved in the PTA

#1 Be in the Know

When you're involved in the PTA, you'll know what's happening at school and won't have to pry the information out of your child. And think how surprised your child will be that you know their teachers and principal!

#2 Access Great Resources

PTA provides programs to make your life as a parent easier, on topics ranging from homework help to bullying preventions to media safety and more.

#3 Build Relationships

Need a new circle of friends for you or your child? PTA connects you to other families through fun events, gatherings, and shared goals, which helps build a sense of community.

#4 Hone Your Skills

PTA offers opportunities for you to grow your talents to benefit children, the school, and your resume, too! Event planning, volunteer management, and fundraising skills are highly sought after by employers!

#5 Have a Say

PTA can be a way to more effectively suggest changes at your child's school than yelling at slow drivers in the carline. Plus, you'll get a chance to put all of your great ideas into action!

Now that we've convinced you, sign up for the PTA today! We're excited to have you involved!

Five Myths & Facts About PTA

Myth #1: I'll get roped into volunteering if I go to a PTA meeting.

Fact: There are opportunities to get involved, but just pass along the sign up sheet if you don't want to participate. No guilt and seriously, no pressure!

Myth #2: Those PTA moms know each other really well and are a big clique.

Fact: Active PTA members (moms, dads, grandparents, and guardians) do know each other as a result of working together, but we're dedicated to making sure our group is welcoming to all.

Myth #3: The PTA is for stay-at-home moms with nothing better to do.

Fact: PTA members are parents, grandparents, and community members who want to support the school and students. Everyone is juggling work, bills, household chores, kids, sports, and homework - just like you!

Myth #4: My child's life will be the same whether I join the PTA or not.

Fact: Not only does membership put you in direct communication with other parents and teachers, but when you're involved, it shows your child that you're interested and invested in their education.

Myth #5: The PTA has all the help they need. My participation won't make a difference.

Fact: This is probably the biggest myth of all. We want and need your participation! If you choose to volunteer, YOU decide your level of involvement. New ideas are always welcome and keep PTA fresh and exciting! All levels of participation are welcome!

Ready to get involved? There are ways to help, both in school & at home that involve less time than you think!
